NEW DELHI, April 16 (Xinhua) -- India on Tuesday condemned1 the twin bomb blasts at the annual marathon event in the U.S. city of Boston in which at least three people were killed and over 140 others injured.
"I am deeply shocked and saddened by the outrageous2 terrorist attack in Boston yesterday (Monday). This senseless and cowardly act of violence has struck a city that has long stood as the symbol of openness, learning, innovation and enterprise," Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wrote to U.S. President Barack Obama.
"The people of India join me in condemning3 the attack in the strongest terms. We stand in solidarity4 and sympathy with the bereaved5 families, the injured and the people of the United States. The attack serves as a tragic6 reminder7 of the evil of terrorism that still threatens our nations and lurks8 in our cities," the prime minister added.
Singh also offered India's full cooperation to the United States in the investigations9 into the attack. "Mr President, in keeping with the excellent cooperation between India and the United States to combat terrorism, we offer you our full support for the investigations into the attack," he wrote.
