ISTANBUL, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Turkish national carrier Turkish Airlines on Wednesday signed a deal with Europe's Airbus to buy 117 planes, marking the country's largest single order for planes.
The order includes 25 Airbus A321, four A320, 53 A321 and 35 A321, which will be added to the airline's fleet by the end of 2020.
Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said the cooperation between Turkish Airlines and Airbus is at a threshold that will pave way for Turkey to develop its own civil aircraft industry.
Turkish Airlines aims to carry 46 million passengers in 2013 and build up a 375-plane fleet by 2020.
