报告显示 去年126万中国学生出国留学占全球1/4

 　　China had a total of 1.26 million students overseas as of 2015, accounting¹ for 25% of the world's total number of students studying outside their native country, meaning one in four such students is from China, according to the 2016 Report on the Development of Chinese Students Studying Abroad.

　　据《2016中国留学发展报告》称，截至2015年，中国在海外留学的学生共有126万人，占世界留学生总数的25%，这意味着每四个留学生中，就有一个来自中国。

　　The report was released by the Center for China and Globalization think tank in Beijing.

　　The report said China is the largest origin of international students for English-speaking countries including the US, the UK, Canada and Australia.

　　报告称，中国是美国、英国、加拿大、澳大利亚等英语国家最大的留学生生源国。

　　Meanwhile, Chinese students also make up the largest proportion among international students of countries in the "Chinese-culture circle", such as Japan, South Korea and Singapore.

　　Statistics show that Chinese students account for more than 30 percent of total overseas students in the U.S. and Canada, and about 62 percent of international students in South Korea.

　　统计数据显示，在美国和加拿大全部留学生中，中国留学生的比例超过了30%，而在韩国，这一比例大约为62%。

　　The report pointed² out that China has been the largest source of overseas students in the U.S. for seven consecutive³ years, and the number of Chinese students earning bachelor's degrees surpassed the number of those doing graduate studies for the first time last year.

　　报告指出，中国已经连续7年成为赴美留学生最大输出地，而去年攻读学士学位的学生人数第一次超过了研究生人数。

　　The report notes that from 1978 to the end of 2015, more than 4 million Chinese students went abroad to study. Among them, 126,430 students are still in school, and 221,860 have returned to China since finishing their studies.

　　The total number of returning students has increased significantly since the academic exodus⁴ began. Good job opportunities and international remuneration are the main factors attracting returnees.

　　自从中国学术研究开始上升以来，留学归国的学生人数已经显著增加了。良好的就业机会和国际薪酬是吸引海归的主要因素。

　　Also playing a role are favorable measures including the liberalization of immigration restrictions⁵, support for scientific research, the abolition⁶ of household registration⁷ restrictions and more.

　　此外，取消移民限制、支持科学研究、取消户籍制和其他一些措施都发挥了有利的作用。

　　Most returnees choose to work in first-tier cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. They are mainly involved in the financial, manufacturing, education and scientific industries.

　　More than 60 percent work in grassroots positions with salaries that fall short of their expectations, according to the report.
