The Organiazation for Economic Cooperation and Development says Australia has weathered the global economic crisis well and is in a good position to respond to further shocks. The receiver of the failed lender Banksia Securities has raised the possibility of legal action against the group's auditor1. Banksia collapsed3 in October, owing investors4 660 million dollars, many of them workers or retirees living in regional Victoria. At a creditors5' meeting, Victorian investors were told they were likely to get just over half their money back. Receiver Toney Mcgrath says the auditor should be questioned over its role in the collapse2.
