The prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has denied his government has a problem with receiving criticism after the resignation of the Solicitor¹ General Justin Gleeson. Mr Gleeson announced yesterday he was quitting after a public stoush with the Attorney General George Brandis. Legal figures and the federal opposition² have criticised senator Brandis' treatment of Mr Gleeson.

Police are looking for at least three people after a man was shot-dead in Sydney's south-west this morning. 29-year-old Hamad Assad was shot multiple times as he left his home and died at the scene. Police say it was a targeting shooting and that the victim is known to them.
