We hope it's plain to see how much we enjoy your Ireport introductions. I am K... It's Friday. This is CNN student news. First up today, what happen to the middle east.
Syria's government has wrap up in a investigation1 in a last weekens masquer in the city of HULA. The government report says terrorists responsible for killing2 more than 100 civilians3 there. But an American official say the report is called a blame lie. Syrian officials have blamed armed terrorists for violence that's being in the country more than a year now. L looks the different groups involved in the fighting.
Let's take a look at the Syrian population. The sweeping4 majority of Syrians are Sunni, ruled by Alawite minority for more than 40 years. The Alawites, are islamic sects5 ** Muslim Shiah that believes the dignity of Ali, the profit Muhammad's cousin. They conquer around 60 percent of the population, and occupy higher ranks in securiy and intelligence. President Bashar al-Assad and his family are Alawites.
As for the players in Syria, there are two obvious conflicting groups. The Syrian army and the government forces defending the Bashar al-Assad regime, and the free Syrians army, a group made up largely of army defectors supporting the uprising. Yet, the bloodiest6 atrocities7 are down on the hands of * military forces. On the Syrian government side, they are the Shabeeha, described as a group of armed sacks. many of them are Alawites with no official position in the military command structure. The Shabeeha are widely blamed for commiting bulk of the killings8 of Hula and across Syria. On the opposition9 side, there are numerous armed groups of silly extremes. Their aim is to bring down the Assad regime.
To A.B. that has * a custom to sectarian wars, these images of the Hula massacre10 could prove to be the point of no return, to its regime and its enemies.
A US federal appeals court says a national law is unconstitutional. The laws called DOMA, the defense11 of merriage act. It defines merriages as exclusively being between the man and the woman. This case has to do with federal benefits. Can the US government deny those two same sex couples who live in the states where they can legally marry. Accordingly this ruling, the appeals court says no. Same sex merriages are legal in six states right now. Others have approved laws or state constitutional amendments12 banning same sex merriage. The appeal court says the controversial issue could ultimately end up in front of the US supreme13 court.
About 230 coulors in 16 ounces which means about 460 in 32 ounces. But more importantly, about 40 grams of sugar in here, 50 grams of sugar in here. Research show that repeadly digested sugar like the sugar in soda14 can actually lead to some really really crazy changes in your body's metabolism15, which can lead to some pretty serious illness like diabetes16, stroke, heart disease, even cancer in some cases, according to some reseachers.
So that's part of the reason why NY city officials are proposing a ban on large sodas17 and other * drinks. If this thing is approved, restaurants and food carts in this city should not be able to serve so called * drinks larger than 16 ounces. IF they did those, they could be fined. M says it is heathy issue.
For the government to make the decision that should not include sth else, that the experts are all tell you is very detrimental18 to health. It is contributing to the NO1 public health issue remaining in this city and this country that is getting worse. It’s not unreasonable19.
But some restaurants and drink industry officials are strongly against this. Critics are calling the proposal ban misguided among other things. And opinions from some New Yorkers are mixed.
I don’t really feel he is entitled to someone else’s opinion about what they should drink, how large it should be or how small it should be. I think it’s great. It’s just poison those sugar. It’s up to their parents, it’s up to the individuals. If you want to drink that stuff, so..
We’re guessing you guys are gonna have some opinions on this. And we want to hear them. Our blog on CNN Student News. Com is the place to share them. Log on and let us know what you think.
