 It is an ominous¹ show of force, and an unmistakable signal by the US to Vladmir Putin. The White House says it wants to quadruple the money it spends on its forces in Europe. A move that could ramp² up tensions between America and Russia, which US commanders view as a top threat to national security. 

 

We are taking a strong and balanced approach to deter³ Russian agreesion. 

 

 

Analysts⁴ say that approach means the Pentagon is likely sending many more heavy weapons, armored vehicles, and other equipments to its NATO allies in central and eastern Europe. I can not underscore how a big deal it is, (be)cause it is not just the equipment going in there being prepositioned but also the people will be there again rotating through on a regular basis, and it is about 5,000 troops. 

 

 

US officials say the add of weapons will ensure America has a combat *. All was ready to deploy⁵ in eastern Europe. Even though Putin has been quiet recently along his borders with his chief NATO rival, analysts say the latest US moves of a way to counter Putin's previous aggression⁶ in Ukraine.

 

 

* deployement of naval⁷ forces including submarines near his rivals, even using his airforce to buzz this American carrier, in what some call a cold war style cat and mouse.

 

 

Mr. Putin believes western leaders are weak. He believes by intimidation⁸ he can persuade western leaders to adopt the loss of * in response to the aggression to Ukraine and perhaps elsewhere.

 

 

But it is America going to counter that aggression with a heavy show of force near Putin's western flank. Experts say there are a risk including the possibility of more Putins' s *. 

 

 

Well, I think you are going to hear a lot of raterry coming out from Moscow, you are going to hear Kremlin officials saying that once again NATOs are circling Russia.

 

 

Former Pentagon official A says Putin's also likely to respond by showing that he will not back down. He may have his warplanes buzz more American ships or bases. He might send his submarines out to menace American ships or their allies. A Russian official responded strongly to the plan of US move, telling CNN, they are distablizing to European security and attempt by US to escalate⁹ tensions.
