Spring Fever is a Real Condition

The expression “spring fever” refers to a good feeling that comes over people at the beginning of spring. People are energized to clean their houses, start new relationships, and get new wardrobes. Studies suggest that spring fever is actually a physical condition. The increased amount of sunlight hours and warmer temperatures boost⁴ our serotonin levels and decrease our melatonin. Serotonin is responsible for happy moods while melatonin makes us sleepy. We also experience an increase in endorphins during springtime. Endorphins affect our emotions and inspire us to seek romantic relationships. Spring fever can also make people feel restless. If you feel like you want to get outside and do something, you may have spring fever!
