Breaking news over night. The birth that could impact the future of the White House. Chelsea Clinton delivering a baby girl and we have all the details this morning. And of course the question is, will being a grandmother make Hilary Clinton a stronger, more reliable presidential candidate or will it make her not want to run at all? Let’s get it over to the newest member of the ABC News team Tommy LLamas. Tom, a huge welcome to you, sir. Good morning.
Good morning again, thank you so much. You know, the Clintons have held many titles. But this morning, Bill and Hilary are grand parents. Their daughter Chelsea and her husband Marc giving birth to a baby girl. Charlotte is the name. It’s only been seven hours, but everyone wants to know how does this affect Hilary’s future? Will she try to be grandmother in chief or try to become a commander in chief or both?
Celebration overnight. One of the most influential1 families in American Politics welcoming a new member to their family, Chelsea Clinton, former first daughter giving birth to her first child Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky, twitting shortly after Midnight: “Marc and I are full of love, awe2 and gratitude3 as we celebrate the birth of our daughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky.”
Many waiting for the much anticipated since Chelsea and Hilary announced the pregnancy4 on April 17th.
“Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year, and…”
“Well, grandchild, yes, which I’m really exited about.”
“You are gonna be a grandma. I know that you and your husband are very happy about that and excited. When you think of this grandchild, what do you want?”
“I want a healthy, happy child.”
Others had advice for the soon-to-be grandparents. Former president George W. Bush making this joke to former president Bill Clinton at the Clinton-Bush Leadership Conference.
“Be prepared to fall completely in love. Get ready also to be like the lowest person in the packing order in your family.”
“What’s the biggest thing you want to teach your new grandchild?”
We still don’t know if Hilary will run for president in 2016. But with the addition of Charlotte into their family, the Clintons will have plenty to celebrate and cherish for years to come.
Alright. But let’s back to 2016. Hillary has said she looks forward to being a grand mother because she will have something she didn’t have when Chelsea was growing up -- time. She says being a grandmother is one reason why she may not run. One more “no”, guys, Chelsea actually decorated the nursery with elephants and that’s kind of weird8, right? Because it’s the Republican mascot9.
Yeah.
Well, Chelsea actually works to save African elephants.
Ah, that makes sense.
So it poses close to her heart. Now, I don’t know the Clintons, but if I did, I’d buy that baby a pantsuit Onesie. That’s a perfect gift for her.
Well played. Great again to have you here.
Thank you so much. It’s an honor to be here. Thanks.
