This morning on today's Travel - the Best of the Best, once again travel on leisure magazine ask its readers to rate airlines, hotels and travel destinations across the globe. The results are in the magazines that come in tenth annual world's best awards issue. Its senior consulting editor Mark Orwoll. is here with the best.

Mark Orwoll: Good morning, Natalie.

N: Ten years have you been doing this?

M: Ten years, Yes, it's ….yeah….

N: Seventeen thousand readers / responded to the survey which, I imagine, took a long time …..exhaustive…

M: That's right, a exhaustive survey. And…ah…but the results are really…ah…intriguing.

N: So we have a lot to get through. Let's get right to it.

M: Alright.

N: First, top hotels worldwide. And I'm gonna show you the top three:

M: Right.
1. The Four Seasons Bali at Sayan
2. Singita (Correct me if I'm saying wrong.) Private Reserve, Sabi Sand South Africa
3. Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur, India

M: That's right, very good, good pronunciation. That's right.

N: I am just guessing on the pronunciations here, but clearly a lot of people know the pronunciations and know where they are going because these were the top three. Asia again dominating the hotels living….

M: Well, yep, people know that getting out to Asia is a lot easier nowadays than it ever was, and when you get, when you get there, there are choices of some great hotels, some very high and deluxe¹ property, like the Four Seasons Resort, Bali at Sayan.

N: What does it have to offer? What was it that attracted your readers to these properties, specifically?

M: Well, it's very small property that it only has 18 suites² and 42 lodges⁴, / each one of the lodges has a private plunge⁵ pool. It's set right on the edge of a beautiful tropical gorge⁶ and ah…the quality..

N: Not the beach, though?

M: No. This is not a beach resort. This is not on the interior. In fact, it's about ten minutes away from Oboo which is the arts and cultural capital of Bali. So people who want to have a really deep cultural experience.

N: Looks great, looks like heaven!

M: ….and the lab of luxury! We could do no better than going to Four Seasons Resort of Bali at Sayan.

N: Alright.

H: Moving on close to the home that top hotels in the U.S. and Canada and winners are, let's show you here:

M: That's right.

N: So, again, tell me about the Rusty Parrot Lodge?

M: Rusty Parrot Lodge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming is just a few minutes walk away from the Main Square in Jackson. So you are close to all the shops, art galleries, restaurants there. They have a fireplace in each of the guest rooms, at Rusty Parrot Lodge, they have a wonderful spa all the….all the rooms have what we say soaking tuck. You know what, you can have a massage⁸ in your room right next to roaring fire. They are great at helping⁹ you get out and enjoy the outdoor, whether skiing in the winter or hiking and fishing in the summer.

N: And it strikes me as well, these are smaller properties, smaller hotels, and not the fancy chains that you've seen...

M: No. No. They are deluxe, they are fancy in that sense, but I think what links them all is that they all have this highly, high personalized service, real commitment to make me sure that you get the experience that you want.

N: Now if you are looking for a little bit more of a bargain, the top three are, if you take a look once again:

So, again, what kind of resort are we seeing with the Aerie Resort?

M: Well, the Aerie Resort in the…it's in the mountains about 30 miles outside Victoria, you know, Vancouver Island of British Columbia. They call it a Mediterranean¹¹ mansion¹² style resort. And you are gonna see a very elegant sense of design inside. They have a wonderful restaurant, like so many of the restaurants in this part of Vancouver Island, they rely primarily on locally grown products. And fish, sea food drawn¹³ from the Pacific Ocean which, as you can see, dropped at gorgeous views of the Pacific, right outside the lodge.

N: Beautiful. Alright, let's talk about top ten cities overall worldwide. And this is actually kind of surprising again we are seeing two…ah… Asia, Asia's topping here, as well two in Thailand, two in Italy, which is very interesting. I think New York was the sixth on the list. Sydney, Bangkok, Rome, Florence, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

M: That's right. Sydney was…ah…This is the eighth time in the last ten years that Sydney came in No.1. NY city, ..

N; I haven't yet to go. I am gonna see it now.

M: Oh…you got it. It's…Natalie, it's a gorgeous city. NY City was the top U.S. city came in No.6 overall. But great surprise! As you probably guess from this was Chang Mai in Thailand, which, I don't know if you have been in Chang Mai,

N: I have not been..

M: but it's the gateway¹⁴ to the northern part of Thailand. It is surrounded by communities of these hill tribes people, which makes it a very very deep…ah…meaningful cultural experience for those people who get there. This is an ancient city which was founded in the 13th century. Some of the original moats are still in place, absolutely a beautiful town.

H: And we have two more, and we have to get through all of them. We don't have how much time talking about cruise lines now, and
1. Crystal Cruises again topping the list

3. Oceania Cruises, and
4. Disney Cruise Line
5. and Celebrity¹⁵ Cruises
Rounding up the top five there. What is driving the cruise line?

M: Well, Crystal Cruises is being number 10 at the top, No.1 of the top for all ten years. It's an innovator¹⁶. You can do things like pillow menus, they have a functionally¹⁷ designed spa, they have a speaker's list that you get in enrichment program, computer learning at sea, sort of people like Maryland Horn, D. J, even William Scott has been a speaker. And with these guys they are innovators and they do it in luxury. And that's why people keep coming back.
