(单词翻译:双击或拖选)
Todd: So Adrienne, what did you think of the restaurant?
Adrienne: It was good. The food was tasty but not as good as Italian food at home.
Todd: Yeah, I kind of think the same thing. It seemed like the noodles were a little hard, I guess you can say.
Adrienne: Yeah. Plastic.
Todd: Yeah
Adrienne: Like, yeah, I agree.
Todd: Did you like the salad?
Adrienne: Uh, salad was good, but it's hard to mess up salad.
Todd: Yeah, although that salad was pretty nice, right. It was chicken and sauce1 and peppers2 and stuff3 so...
Adrienne: And asparagus.
Todd: Like I can't make that salad. So that was pretty good.
Adrienne: Oh, that's true. I guess your right.
Todd: And what did you think about the pizza?
Adrienne: The pizza was delicious. I would like it to be a little bigger, because pizza at home is usually much bigger but, it was still very good.
Todd: Yeah, I forgot, how much was the bill. How much did we pay?
Todd: 3,000 yen, so what do you think? Is that expensive or cheap or?
Adrienne: That seems pretty standard for Tokyo I think.

as good as
The food was tasty, but not as good as Italian food at home.
We use 'as + adjective5 + as' to compare things. In this case the good at the restaurant was good, but the food at home is better. Notice the following:
Life here is as comfortable as back home.
I don't think my car is as fast as your car.
hard
It seemed like the noodles were a little hard.
Used like this 'hard' means6 difficult to bite into. It is talking about the texture7. Notice the following:
The bread is hard on the outside, but soft and chewy inside.
Don't bite the candy. It's hard and you will break your teeth.
hard
The salad was good, but it's hard to mess up salad.
'Hard' used this way means difficult or not easy. Notice the following:
That is a very hard place to live.
I didn't know it was going to be so hard to find an apartment.
pretty good
I can't make that salad, so that was pretty good.
If something is 'pretty good' it is not the best thing ever, but it is better than average. Notice the following:
They have pretty good prices and high quality clothes.
The transportation8 system here is is pretty good, but there are still some problems.
standard
A 3,000-yen dinner for two seems pretty standard for Tokyo.
Something that is 'standard' is normal or common. In this case, 3,000 yen is a normal price. Notice the following:
It is standard that everything takes a lot longer here.
I am still trying to figure out what is standard here.
