185. Recycling refrigerators回收电冰箱 recur1-regime
I like to recycle. It is quite refreshing2 to take items that have been thrown away and redeem3 them to usefulness. After I was made redundant4 from my job, I took it upon myself as a form of self-refinement5 and self-regeneration to redress6 and refute my idleness by engaging in recycling.
A few days ago, I was roaming the streets in my pick-up truck looking for items that could be recycled when a flash of light caught my eye. It was the reflection in my mirror of the refraction of light from the sun hitting the surface of a refrigerator that someone had thrown out on the street. I put it in my pick-up truck and took it back to my garage, where many an abandoned item find refuge. The refrigerator could no longer refrigerate, so I checked the refrigeration unit and added some refrigerant. I plugged it in and it worked. I celebrated7 by having a few refreshments9 like a pot of tea, a box of cookies, a six-pack of beer, and a jar of kimchee. Afterwards, I put the leftovers10 in the refrigerator. It was wonderful that I was able to refurbish and regenerate11 what someone had thrown away.
I have a recurring12 dream. That is that our present regime will reform and refine recycling policies to include refrigerators. Otherwise, the problem of old refrigerators lining13 our streets will recur again and again. This kind of reformism will be helpful to our society and make the members of our society more refined.
