In summer, the frozen oceans melt

and the polar animals disperse¹ to feed amongst the broken ice.

So, even finding them in this vast expanse of sea

and drifting ice floes wouldn't be easy.

In the Arctic, the aim was to get close to a polar bear family

and film them in this fast-melting world.

Firstly, the team had to use a ship

capable of breaking through the pack ice

around the 2,000-mile-long coastline of Svalbard.

1 disperse
