“手动挡”还有几个更口语的说法：

I drive stick, I drive clutch: 我开手动挡

Stick: 棍子

Clutch: 离合器

Most Americans drive automatic now. It's impressive when an American can drive stick: 大多数美国人现在都开自排挡，会开手排挡很有本事

But if you have a fast car with a big engine that's an automatic, people will think you're a wimp⁴: 但是如果你开了一辆速度快、引擎大的车，却是自动挡，那别人会觉得你很没用

If you're going to drive a race car, it has to be stick/clutch: 你如果想开赛车、跑车，一定得开手动档

美国人不问“排气量”， 问“马力”

Horsepower:马力

Torque: 转矩

We don't really ask "what's your car emission": 我们不太问“你的车排气量多少”？
