 Hey, guys! I'm gonna try and explain some Chinese New Year traditions in this quick video. 嘿，各位!我要试着在这部短片中解释一些中国新年传统。

They'll mostly be food related, so let's go to the supermarket and get some of the stuff that we need. 它们大部分是食物相关的，所以我们去超市拿些我们需要的东西。

Pomelos taste awesome¹, and the Cantonese name rhymes with the phrase "two half." 柚子吃起来超棒的，而且它的广东名字与“两半”这个词押韵。

You'll see a ton of mandarins around Chinese New Year. 你会在中国新年四处看到一大堆橘子。

And as you can see here, they usually come with the leaves still attached. 如同你在这可以看到的，它们通常仍附着叶子呈现。

These symbolize² good luck. 这些象征好运。

You'll notice there's a lot of red because red is a lucky color in Chinese culture. 你会注意到有许多红色，因为在中国文化红色是幸运色。

Here's a typical Chinese calendar with the word "blessing³" written on it. 这里是个典型的中国日历，有着“福”这个字。

Sometimes you'll find that this is turned upside down to signify that the blessings⁴ are coming. 有时你会发现这被上下颠倒放以表示福气到来。

Here's a typical modern decoration. 这里是个典型的现代装饰。

It's got the word blessing written all over it, it's colorful, and it's 3D. 它有福字写遍整个装饰品、很缤纷、且是3D的。

Good things come in pairs. These decorative⁵ firecrackers have a pair of mandarins on them. 好事成双。这些装饰用的鞭炮在它们上头有一对橘子。

There's also a pair of fish because the word "fish" sounds like abundance. 也有一对鱼，因为“鱼”这个字听起来像丰富。

We eat sweet crispy dumpling which have dry coconuts⁶, sugar, and peanuts inside. 我们吃里头有椰子干、糖、和花生的甜酥饺。

Their shape is similar to pieces of gold that ancient Chinese people used to use for money. 它们的形状相似于中国古人过去用来当钱的金块。

Inside the Chinese candy box, there's usually sweetened fruit, dry seeds or nuts. 在中国糖盒里，通常会有蜜饯、果仁或坚果干。

We also eat roast pork, which is really really yummy. 我们也吃烧肉，那非常非常美味。

We make glutinous⁷ rice balls to put inside sweet red bean soup. 我们做糯米汤圆放进红豆甜汤里。

Buddha's delight is a vegetarian⁸ dish and you're free to put whatever you want in that. 罗汉斋是道素食菜肴，你可随意放任何你想吃的在那里头。

Here we've got dry bean curd⁹, carrots, black mushrooms, noodles, lotus seeds, anything you really like you can put in there. 这里我们有豆干、红萝卜、香菇、面条、莲子，任何你真的喜欢的你都可以放进那里。

Nin gou is a sticky pudding which is sliced and fried. 年糕是个切片并煎煮的黏黏布丁。

Here's a standard red envelope. 这里是个标准的红包。

Aside from all the eating, red envelope is probably the best thing about Chinese New Year. 除了所有吃的，红包也许是关于中国新年最棒的事。

They contain money, and they're usually given from the old to the young. 它们包着钱，而且它们通常是由长辈包给晚辈。
