Flights delayed and cancelled amid Northeast US blizzard alert
Thousands of flight are being delayed or cancelled amid a massive storm rolling into the US northeast.
More than 27-hundred flights have been cancelled because of the massive blizzard, including nearly 700 flights at the three main airports serving New York City.
Passengers from around the US had been trying to get to their airports early to try to get on a flight to the northeast before the storm hit.
"I'm waiting at the gate now. I'm begging."
"I checked my flight status and it says 'on time' right now. So we're supposed to land at 2:15 (1915 GMT), hopefully that doesn't change."
US National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for New York City and surrounding areas between coastal9 New Jersey10 and Connecticut.
Forecasters are warning some parts of the northeast are going to be hit with upto 3-feet of snow.
Office workers in New York have been sent home early.
Most schools in the city will be shut down.

IS Claim Libya Hotel Attack, Hostages Taken
Unidentified gunmen wearing bulletproof vests have reportedly barged into a luxury hotel in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, taking a number of people hostage.
Initial reports also suggest three guards have been killed.
Reports are suggesting the attack is being claimed by the Islamic State's "Tripoli Province".
Japanese PM defends his performance in handling the hostage crisis
In another developing hostage crisis, Japanese Prime Minister Shino Abe is defending his government's work in dealing11 with the current hostage taking.
"If we fear the risks so much that we succumb12 to the terrorists' threats, we won't be able to make any humanitarian13 contributions to countries surrounding the area of conflict."
Buddhist14, Christian15 and Muslims have been gathering16 in Tokyo to offer prayers for the return of Japanese hostage Kenji Goto, who is being held captive by Islamic State militants17.
The Japanese government is working with Jordanian authorities to secure his release.
The Islamic State, which has already murdered one other Japanese hostage, has since dropped its demand of 200-million dollars in ransom18 money, and is instead demanding the release of a woman currently being held by Jordanian authorities.
It's believed the Japanese government is trying to work out a prisoner swap19 to free Goto and a Jordanian pilot also being held by Islamic State militants.
Spanish government confirms the victims' nationalities in fighter jet crash
Spanish authorities have confirmed the nationalities of those killed in the crash of a fighter jet during a NATO training exercise.
Eight French nationals and the 2 Greek pilots aboard the F-16 are among those 10 people killed, after the plane crashed during a take-off at an airfield20 in central Spain.
Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
"There are no Spaniards dead or injured, it appears there are two people who have died who are of Greek nationality, and eight French nationals, and then there are a lot of people injured, they tell me 10 French, 11 Italians, and I think that the information that you have given is essentially21 what we have at this time."
The two-seat Greek F-16 "lost power" during take-off, crashing into other planes and exploding.
Many of the nearly 20 people injured in the crash are suffering from serious burns, which suggests the death toll22 could rise.
Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez is calling for a complete overhaul of the country's intelligence service in the wake of the mysterious death of a prosecutor.
Fernandez is pointing the finger at rogue agents within the country's spy apparatus24 as the likely culprits behind the suspected murder of a prosecutor.
"I have taken the decision for this secretariat to be dissolved and for a federal agency of intelligence to be created, whose direction will be led by a general director and a sub-director, who will need the approval of the Senate before being appointed into these positions."
At the same time, Fernandez is denying any connection to the death of Alberto Nisman.
She says it's her belief agents within the Argentinian Intelligence Secretariat killed Nisman in an attempt to discredit25 her government.
The 51-year old was found dead at his home just hours before giving testimony26 to a congressional hearing to accuse Fernandez of obstructing27 his investigation28 into a 1994 bombing at a Jewish charity in Buenos Aires.
He was poised29 to accuse her of shielding Iranian involvement in the attack to maintain an oil-for-food arrangement her government has with Iran.
The family of missing Mexican reporter Moises Sanchez has asked for DNA proof of his identity.
Sanchez was taken from his home in Veracruz three weeks ago by armed gunmen.
Official announced this weekend they discovered Sanchez's badly decomposed31 body after a police officer confessed to murdering him.
The officer claims a local mayor ordered Sanchez's murder in retaliation32 for critical articles he had been writing.
Sanchez wrote weekly articles highlighting the inner-workings of the drug trade in the Veracruz region.
His cases is the latest case highlighting corruption33 on a local level in Mexico, where a number of local officials have gained and retained power through the backing of the country's powerful drug cartels.
China's 2014 industrial profits growth lowest in 16 years
Industrial profits in China have seen the weakest annualized growth in some 16-years.
The National Bureau of Statistics is reporting industrial profits gained 3.3 percent last year on an annualized basis.
Companies with annual revenues over 20-million yuan, or 3.3-million U.S. dollars, are counted in the calculation.
Pan Jiancheng with the National Bureau of Statistics says there are two main reasons behind the slowdown in industrial profit growth.
"First, the sales growth at industrial businesses has been decelerating. Secondly35, factory prices for industrial goods have been on the decline, dampening overall profitability."
Industrial profits have been on a sharp decline over the past couple of months, coming in down 8-percent in December after a 4-percent drop in November.
China Regulators Promote "See-Through Kitchen" to Improve Food Safety
Anchor:
The notion of a "see-through kitchen" in restaurants across China is being promoted in a campaign to improve hygiene36 and food safety.
CRI's Yin Xiuqi explains.
Reporter:
In the southern Chinese city of Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province, a number of restaurants are being required to transform their once secretive kitchens into "see-through" ones.
The refurbished kitchens will have glass windows and CCTV camera systems so both diners and regulators will have a clear idea as to what's going on in the kitchen.
Chen Jingtai is the director of the Food and Drug Administration in Zhanjiang.
"The whole process of food preparation and cooking in the kitchen is put under real-time monitoring through a closed-circuit TV system. What's happening within the kitchen appears on a big TV screen in the dining area of the restaurant and also on TV screens in our food regulators' office. This way, diners and food regulators can both supervise the food-making process."
For those preparing the food, the "see-through" kitchen is going to force them to improve hygiene.
"Before the installation of the system, frankly37 speaking, there was dirty water and chaos38 in the kitchen. Now we are under intense supervision39 by our customers and food safety regulators. So we have to pay more attention to food hygiene and food safety."
The concept of the "see-through" kitchen appears to be welcome among customers.
"I come to eat at this restaurant frequently because I can know exactly what happens in its kitchen through the transparent40 glass shielding the kitchen area and also the CCTV system."
The "see-through kitchen" campaign in the city of Zhanjiang is part of nationwide drive to improve food safety across the country.
Zhang Jing is with the China Food and Drug Administration.
"We are planning to make the concept of a 'see-through kitchen' part of our licensing41 requirements for restaurants. What we want to achieve is the right-to-know of consumers, as well as improve food safety."
People in China have become increasingly concerned about food safety following a series of food-safety scandals across the country in recent years.

The number of governmental weibo accounts reaches over 130 thousands: Survey
New analysis shows the number of microblogs and weibo accounts run by China's government agencies and officials has reached over 130-thousand.
This is around 20-percent more than existed in 2013.
Among them, over 80-percent of the official weibo accounts are run by government agencies or officials in or below the county level.
An official account run by the Ministry42 of Public Security became the first government weibo account to secure 10 million followers43.
Yu Guoming, deputy director of journalism44 at Renmin University, says the people running the accounts need to be more savvy45.
"A lot of the weibo account lack real content. The promptness and frequency of their posts also remains46 a big issue. And at the same time, the logic47 and tone of the posts are very rigid48, which doesn't resonate with the public."
Government departments across China have been mandated49 to set up weibo accounts in an attempt to be more accountable to the public.

The retail price of regular gasoline here in China is now priced just above 5-yuan a liter, following the latest downward adjustment of prices by Chinese authorities.
However, observers are suggesting the effect on Chinese economy is likely to be limited.
CRI's Min Rui has more.
Reporter:
The latest price cut has seen the National Development and Reform Commission cut the retail price.
The price is now 2 yuan per litre cheaper than it was before July when global oil prices started their downward trend, leaving drivers here in China with more cash in their wallets.
"I can save around 300 yuan each month after the price cut, it's a lot."
"It's good to know that the oil price drop, the shipment and delivery will be cheaper."
Retail gas prices in China are cut when international crude prices change by more than 50 yuan per ton over a period of 10 working days.
The significant decline in oil prices has some observers looking at oil as a viable51 alternative to other ways of powering industry.
Han Wenke is the head of the Energy Research Institute with National Development and Reform Commission.
"The price drop could help eliminate projects which have low energy efficiency and high pollution, including coal burning industries.Under the current low price environment, oil might be a more economical fuel."
However, the latest stats show the fuel price reductions aren't expected to have much impact on consumption.
"Statistics show the reduction oil prices had a limited impact on China's GDP last year, due to its low share of overall energy consumption. Oil only makes up 18 percent of energy consumption. So now, it is only getting cheaper to fill our oil tank, but nothing more."
The latest fuel price cut is the 13th time fuel prices have been reduced in China since July.

Military Parade to be Held to Mark 70th Anniversary of Victory against Fascism
A military parade is being planned in Beijing to commemorate53 the 70th anniversary of the victory over Fascism.
Foreign leaders are being invited to attend the parade for the first time.
The details of the parade have not been made available.
It will be the first time since the founding of the PRC that a military parade will be held on a date other than October 1st, which is China's National Day
China's welfare management center says the cancellation of a planned televised lottery draw is due to a technical issue.
The "dual-colored ball" prize draw was originally set for 9:30 on Sunday evening, but was abruptly56 canceled.
The winning numbers were released through the welfare center's official microblog nearly two hours later.
Chen Rifa with the Ministry of Civil Affairs says the problem was caused by a transmission glitch57.
"An abnormality occurred during the process of data collection and transmission from the Chongqing lottery system, which affects the count of the total sales volume from the entire country. The problem was solved two hours later."
The incident has created a firestorm of allegations about the credibility of the lottery system.
Requests have been made to China's anti-corruption agency to open an investigation.
A decision to allow lottery winners to accept their prizes anonymously59 has left many questioning legitimacy60 of the people who win.
NASA Offers Astronauts Cheaper Tickets to Space
NASA says it expects to save millions of dollars in transporting the International Space Station once human space flights resume on US soil.
The US space agency says it expects this will happen sometime in 2017.
NASA administrator61 Charles Bolden.
"We've been working overtime62 to return space launches to US soil and end our sole reliance on Russians to get to the International Space Station. These American companies, who are pioneers and trailblazers in their own right, are developing new systems to take our astronauts - the men and women in this room today - to lower Earth orbit."
Both SpaceX and Boeing are targeting their first manned test flights to the International Space Station in 2017.
The United States has been depending on Russia to ferry astronauts to the orbital outpost since retiring the space shuttle fleet in 2011.
Russia charges the US around 70-million US dollars per astronaut.
The United States shaky diplomatic relationship with Russia has also created concerns for NASA.

First, let's have a look at the numbers across the Asian markets this Tuesday evening.
Joining me on the desk is Yin Xiuqi.
Reporter:
Continued profit-taking in the banking63 and insurance sectors65 weighed down on the Chinese markets today as the two bourses both went lower.
The Shanghai Composite Index dropped just under 1-percent.
Stocks connected to the Chinese government's Silk Road initiatives, such as railway and construction, posted strong gains adding over 3 percent.
Four shares connected to Gansu's capital, Lanzhou, jumped to their daily trading limit of 10 percent following news the city is going to be unveiled as the first inland Free Trade Zone at the upcoming National People's Congress sessions.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng dropped two fifths of a percent.
Other Asian markets all picked up from the previous day's trading as concerns over Greece's exit from the Eurozone eased somewhat today.
The Japanese Nikkei went up nearly one and three quarters of a percent.
South Korea's KOSPI up nearly 1 percent; Australian's ASX 200 up four fifths of a percent; and finally, Singapore's Straits Times index, up two fifths of a percent.
Authorities in the city of Fuzhou in Fujian, as well as provincial69 officials in Sichuan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Guizhou and Inner Mongolia have begun a program of purchasing spare homes from their residents.
These homes are being bought by the respective governments, which will then be re-packaged as subsidized housing for low-income residents.
The scheme, which is still in a trial period, is expected to expand to wholesale71 purchases from land developers.
This comes amid a massive over-supply of homes in China.
It's estimated that 9 out of every 10-homes currently built here in China go un-purchased.
CNR and CSR Kick off Global Roadshow
Chinese trainmakers CNR and CSR are kicking off a global roadshow this week to pitch investors72 ahead of their planned merger73.
Senior officials from both companies are going to meet foreign investors in four international financial hubs including Hong Kong, Singapore, London and New York.
The merger is expected to be complete sometime before the end of March.
CNR and CSR have both announced contracts worth over 7-billion US dollars in recent days.
The merger is designed to make the combined company more competitive abroad, as the two Chinese firms would often bid against one-another for tenders.
Value-added Tax Expected to Reduce Car-makers Tax Burden by 14 Percent
Authorities are working on streamlining the tax codes imposed on carmakers by creating a value-added tax.
The move is expected to reduce the current tax rate on auto producers from 17-percent down to around 3.
However, the tax cut probably isn't going to be reflected on the sticker price.
The Finance Ministry is working on increasing the consumption and environment taxes to maintain the government's tax revenues.
Observers are suggesting the new environment tax may benefit electric vehicle sales.
China's auto sector currently is the third largest taxable industry in China, behind only tobacco and gasoline.
Over 23-million vehicles were sold in China last year, generating nearly 10-billion US dollars' worth of taxes for the government.
Shanghai authority approves nonferrous metals trading center
Anchor:
Plans to create a non-ferrous metals exchange in Shanghai have received the go-ahead from authorities.
The trading center is going to be set up inside the Shanghai Free Trade Zone.
The exchange is expected to open sometime in the next few weeks.
For more on this new exchange, the Beijing Hour's Shane Bigham earlier spoke78 with Gao Shang, analyst with Beijing-based Guantong Futures.
China to Raise Tap Water Price by Yearend
China's central authorities have decided79 to raise the price we pay for tap water services across the country this year.
The minimum charge for tap water treatment is going to rise by some 18-percent to 0.95 yuan per ton across 32 major cities in China.
The cost for tap water treatment in rural areas is also going to be raised proportionately.
Authorities are making the move in an attempt to better regulate sewage treatment.
Industry observers say the price hikes should help the government eliminate the subsidies80 it provides to many water-treatment plants.
The Chinese government currently subsidizes most water treatment facilities in a range of between 30 and 40-percent.
China Agrees to Allow Imports of all U.S. Apples
The US Department of Agriculture has reached a key agreement with Chinese authorities to allow all U.S. grown apples into the Chinese market.
The new agreement is expected to see US-grown apples worth around 100-million US dollars a year into the Chinese market.
Chinese authorities suspended imports of two kinds of apples from Washington State in 2012 because of problems with pest infestations81.
The suspension was lifted last October after U.S. authorities agreed to take additional measures to safeguard their apple exports.
Four New Firms to Compete against CRCC for Mexican High-speed Rail Project
Mexico's Transport Ministry has announced 4 new firms will be competing against the China Railway Construction Company in the re-bidding process for a 3.7 billion dollar high speed railway project in the country.
The four candidates will be unveiled later this week.
It's widely believed Canada's Bombardier and France's ASTOM have made the cut among the 16 companies that had shown interest in being part of the bidding process.
The winner of the bid will be announced at the end of July.
A consortium headed by China Railway Construction won the original bid to build the rail-link last year.
But the bid was later rejected amid opposition82 within the Mexican parliament.
S&P Downgrades Russia's Credit Rating to Junk
Standard and Poor's has stripped Russia of its investment-grade credit rating, cutting it to "junk" status.
The ratings agency is citing Russia's monetary83 policy as the main reason, saying it has little room for flexibility84.
Standard and Poor's is the first major international ratings agency to move Russia down into "junk" territory.
This is down from 64-to-1 figure seen against the US dollar on Friday.
Fosun Buys Sydney Office Building
Chinese private investment firm Fosun Group has bought an office block in the Australian city of Sydney for some 90 million US dollars.

The Lizard Hacker Squad has also claimed responsibility for a cyber attack that took down Malaysia Airlines' website Monday morning.
China Sets 2015 Industrial Output Growth Target at 8 Pct
Chinese regulators have set an 8-percent industrial output growth target this year.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology says while the target is lower than last year, authorities contend it is not a low target, noting China's economy has entered a period of slower growth.
The ministry also says the 8-percent target also takes into account a lower expected rate of GDP growth this year.
Industrial output in China grew 8.3-percent last year, down from the 9.7 percent growth seen in 2013.

"London art gallery invites visitors to spot fakes from China"
The Dulwich Picture Gallery in London is set to open a new exhibition that invites the public to question their understanding and appreciation95 of real and fake art.
The exhibition, Made in China: A Doug Fishbone Project, opens on Feb 10 and replaces a priceless painting with a commissioned replica96 from China. Visitors and art experts are invited to try to spot the fake, which will be unveiled by the gallery after three months.
Fishbone, the artist behind the project, says the exhibition encourages the public to question what makes art valuable while alluding97 to the serious problem of counterfeits98.
He also says the replica market is legitimate99 and contributes greatly to helping100 art gain a wider public access.
Fishbone first visited China in the 1980s, but did not travel to the country to commission the painting used for the exhibition. Instead, he says he took a risk by sending the digital image to the Xiamen studio and came away satisfied with the results.

The use of slang terms on the Internet, especially those with "vulgar" connotations, should be better regulated, a political adviser said yesterday.
Zhang Huaiqiong, a member of the 12th Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said such words and phrases are polluting the Chinese language.
One example is "diao si," a word that is used online to refer to a "loser," albeit102 mostly in a self-deprecating way.
The problem, as Zhang sees it, is that the character "diao" when used on its own is a derogatory term. By extension, "diao si" is crude and vulgar.
She says too many such words are being coined online and then copied by the mainstream103 media, and suggests that more regulations should be drawn104 up to protect the Chinese language.

Health campaigners are renewing calls for stricter restrictions107 on "junk food" adverts after a survey revealed most parents were pestered108 for sweet, salty and fatty treats their kids had seen during television commercial breaks.
Seven in 10 parents with children aged70 four to 16 said they have been badgered to buy junk food and drinks the youngsters had seen advertised on television, according to the UK survey.
Almost half said they were pestered at least once a week.
About 40 percent of parents surveyed also said they thought junk food adverts on television made it difficult to help their children eat a healthy diet.
Campaigners are arguing adverts for such foods should not be shown before the 9pm watershed110 and tighter restrictions for online adverts should also be introduced.
However, representatives from the advertising111 industry claim the rules were already strict and warning against "knee-jerk" regulation.

Parenting directorate 'unnecessary'
Indonesian Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education Ministry is currently brewing112 up the details for a new directorate on parenting education, which critics have said would detract focus from the Ministry's other ongoing113 projects.
The directorate is expected to help guide parents in assisting children in the learning process.
The plan was another breakthrough from the new minister.
The minister has already suspended the 2013 Curriculum due to many components114 failing to be applied115 by teachers at schools and has introduced a new national examination system.
The current system of national exams gives full authority to schools to grade their own students' exam papers and determine their graduation status, a system that may open the chance for teachers to be generous in grading students.
In the past, schools usually swapped116 students' national exam papers for marking in order to keep grading prudent117.

China plans world's largest supercollider 2'50
Anchor:
Chinese scientists are working on plans to build a giant particle-smashing collider that will eventually be large enough to encircle the island of Manhattan in New York.
CRI's Poornima Weerasekara has details.
Reporter:
China's proposed supercollider will be twice the size of the Large Hadron Collider or CERN in Switzerland that helped discover the Higgs Boson or the God Particle in 2012.
It will also serve as a symbol of the country's rise as a global superpower by putting it at the forefront of scientific research that has implications on everything ranging from advancements118 in computer science to new drug discovery.
Prof. Wang Yifang is the Director of the Institute of High Energy Physics, under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
"This large circuit collider has two phases; the first phase (called the Circular Electron Positron Collider) is an electron Positron Collider, and the second phase is a Proton Collider. By having this machine we can have a total of one million higgs particles. By analyzing119 all these Higgs particles we can understand its detailed120 properties. With all these projects we will be in a leading position in particle physics."
The discovery of the Higgs Boson two years ago was seen as one of the biggest scientific breakthroughs in human history, fundamentally changing the way we understand our universe, how it originated and its future.
But China's particle accelerator promises to go a step further in unlocking the mysteries of the universe.
It will be able to recreate, inside the accelerator, the hyper-energy conditions that existed following the Big Bang, when the building blocks of the universe were formed. This will help Physicists121 explore the origins of matter, energy, and explore the phenomena122 of time and space.
Prof. Wang Yifang says this might help physicists discover a new range of particles beyond those already known to mankind, and charted in the Standard Model of Particle Physics.
"Having the Proton Collider we can further study the properties of Higgs (Boson Particle) and this can only be done at very high energy Proton machine. And after that when you have all these studies of Standard Model particles then you can look for the signatures that deviate123 from the Predictions of the Standard Model and by that you can discover the new physics (particles) after that."
A preliminary conceptual design for this cutting-edge particle physics laboratory is now almost complete. China is four years ahead of their European competition, CERN who also want to build the only other known super collider in the world. The Unites States gave up plans to do it due to the high investment needed. But even China's project –if all goes according to plan - will only be completed in 2045.
The initial design for China's supercollider shows a perfect circle-shaped city, where the top physicists from across the world, are working alongside new-technology companies and other futuristic businesses in a kind of Scientific Utopia. It may even give China a fair shot at winning its first ever Nobel Prize in science

Seventh seed Tomas Berdych ousted124 Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in Melbourne, with the Czech player's 6-2, 6-0, 7-6 success ending a 17-match losing streak125 against his Spanish opponent.
The third-seeded Nadal, a 14-time Grand Slam singles champion, said before the tournament began that his lack of match fitness due to injuries and illness in the last half of 2014 made him unlikely to win more than a few rounds at Melbourne Park.
Nadal saved two match points in the 12th game of the final set, sending it to a tie-breaker. Berdych led 5-2 and finally ended the encounter on Rod Laver Arena126 on his fourth match point when Nadal netted a return of serve.
Coming into the Australian Open, Nadal had played only eight matches since last June because of a right wrist injury and appendix surgery in November.
An 18th successive defeat of Berdych by the Spaniard would have set a new record for men's tennis.
Tennis: Ekaterina Makarova beats Halep in Aussie Open
Ekaterina Makarova has raced to a 3-0 lead in the first nine minutes of the match and beat third-seeded Simona Halep 6-4, 6-0 in the first women's quarter-final at the Australian Open.
Makarova called Halep a tough opponent in her remarks after the match.
"I just tried to stay solid and to play to win. She's a tough opponent, and I lost to her already two years ago. She doesn't miss a lot, so we had a really tough game and a really long game. I tried to be more aggressive more, because Halep rarely misses a point. So I tried to stay solid to keep up my game."
It will be Makarova's second consecutive127 Grand Slam semi-final.
She made her first major semi at last year's U.S. Open, losing to Serena Williams after beating Bouchard in the fourth round.
Romanian Halep was out of sorts, making 31 unforced errors during the match.
Next, Makarova faces compatriot Maria Sharapova, who the brakes on Eugenie Bouchard's quest for a first major title, beating the young Canadian 6-3, 6-2 earlier today.

Kobe Bryant will have surgery tomorrow on his torn right rotator cuff136, likely ending his 19th season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The team announced Bryant's surgery on Monday. He injured his shoulder last week in New Orleans.
Coach Byron Scott says he anticipates losing the third-leading scorer in NBA history for the rest of the year.
And in action from today:
Russell Westbrook scored 18 points to help lead the Oklahoma City Thunder past the Minnesota Timberwolves 92-84, who played without the injured Kevin Durant.
Two games: Trail Blazers at Nets, and the Kings at Knicks, were postponed137 due to the blizzard in the Northeast United States.
Memphis beat out Orlando 103-94.
The Los Angeles Clippers got the better of the Denver Nuggets 102-98.
And it was the Boston Celtics over the Utah Jazz 99-90.

Zhang Mo sentenced to six months in prison for drug offences
Actor Zhang Mo, son of Zhang Guoli has been sentenced to six months in prison for drug offences.
The Haidian District People's Court in Beijing also fined him 5 thousand yuan, around 800 US dollars for providing venues34 for drug users.
According to the court, Zhang had provided venues for recreational drug use on two occasions.
Due to the fact that the star was detained on July 27 last year and has remained in police custody139 since, Zhang Mo will be released this Thursday which totals the sentence of six months.
The maximum sentence for this crime is a three year prison term. Because Zhang had admitted to police before an investigation was launched, he received a lighter140 sentence.
Zhang pleaded guilty yesterday saying he had learnt from his mistake and would never break the law again.
His sentence comes less than a month after Jaycee Chan, son of Chinese kung fu star Jackie Chan, was sentenced to six months in prison for drug offenses in Beijing.
Last September, the Beijing Trade Association for Performers announced it would not hire celebrities141 implicated142 in drug cases.

Paramount146 is moving Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible 5 forward by five months from December to July this year.

Chris Brown delays tour to complete community service
Singer Chris Brown has delayed his tour this week to complete his court ordered community service.
The 25 date US tour with artists Trey Songz and Tyga was set to launch today but Brown announced that the tour will be postponed for a couple of weeks.
The singer told his fans in an announcement on Instagram that the judge would not sign off on his travel to do the tour until he finished his last 100 hours of community service.
Earlier this month, Brown's probation150 was revoked151 by a Los Angeles judge for traveling without approval for a concert and failing to complete his one thousand hours of community service on time.
Brown was ordered to complete 1000 hours community service in 2013 for the assault on his ex-girlfriend singer Rihanna.
