The upcoming G20 summit in Germany is expected to be a tough one as protectionism continues to pressure global relations and the world economy. The U.S. decision to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement poses another setback1 in dealing2 with the deteriorating3 environmental issue. Some U.S. scholars are looking at China for greater international leadership.
Meantime, German Chancellor4 Angela Merkel says it's her role as host of this year's G20 summit to resolve differences.
Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg said she expected this year's summit follow up on the agenda made in the event in Hangzhou.She also suggested that G20 could use the Belt and Road Initiative, as it brings the region better together as reference to gather more countries in financing investment.
