Amid intense speculation1, Senator Barack Obama announced he's considering a 2008 presidential run. But the Illinois Democrat2 says he won't make a decision until after the November 7th midterm election. On NBC's “Meet the Press”, Obama said , quote:"Given the response that I've been getting over the last several months, I've thought about the possibility." Also Sunday, Obama dismissed claims he's not ready to run for the White House because of his limited experience in national politics. He said, "I'm not sure anyone is ready to be president before they're president. I trust the judgment3 of the American people." And he went on to say, "Should I decide to run if I ever decide to run. I'll be confident that I'll be run through the paces pretty good".
Obama burst onto the national scene after his widely acclaimed4 Keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Since then, rumors5 have been swirling6 that he would make a run for the presidency7. But Obama brushed aside the speculation saying he was planning to serve a full six-year term in Congress.
