It was the masterful late and lunatic comedian1 Bill Hicks who pointed2 it out in the sarcastic3 terms of those really wary4 intelligent beings from another planet or even universe coming to earth, what we call UFOs. Why did they invariably seem to show up in out-of-the-way places --- all American’s truck routes and rural-out posts?
Tonight on No.1 story in the countdown, perhaps the first true evidence of intelligence from outer space, flying saucer’s seen over Hawaii.
Second said of sighting's in week first. This was captured in Charlotte, North Carolina by an amateur photographer whose video ricocheted around the Internet. Witnesses described it as a blue green ball with a tail. Usual suspects are ruled out. It's not Venus, it’s not an airplane, nor as it’s a satellite either. And Friday, this other image showed the Internet around 6:20 pm in Honolulu with… witnesses rather describe it is two little fireballs with a stream behind it, also noting they changed directions a few times. The National Weather Service the FAA had no explanation while the U.S. military was conducting missile defense5 drills nearby --- those did not occur until an hour after those images were made. Join us now from San Jose, California, Lester Velez, the assistant director for MUFON, the Mutual6 UFO Network in California. Mr. Velez, thank you for your time tonight, sir.
Thank you, good to see you.
Before we get to this specific examples from this past week, groups are serious about this, tell me about MUFON and what you do.
Well, MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network is uh, dedicated7 to the study of UFOs, and what benefit could possibly be to humanity. Uh, We feel that if we understood the technology, uh… behind these, these unknowns that perhaps it could be utilized8 in some fashion to better a lot, a lot in life.
Let's look at what, what are your assessment9 of these two sightings, this first image, that we saw from Charlotte, it's found in a newspaper, the article in the Charlotte Observer Edition by an astronomer10. He said this is a fireball, meteor by 30 miles high, uh, that burned up in the atmosphere, and those just are still image, but is that a viable11 explanation to you?
Well, it's, it's one of many viable explanations, most, most of the sightings, probably 95% are explainable to some degree, by totally standard, you know, types of, uh, sightings, sort like airplane, that you said earlier, or a space junk, but then there are those 5%, that are pretty, pretty incredible, and very hard to explain. Uh…I did take a look at that, that photo, and it's, it's a remarkable12 photo, but I, I tend to agree with the… I think it was an, astronomer that was saying that was probably a meteor that was coming in. But then again, you can't tell, because there are just, you can't get your hands around it, your arms around it, they're out there, just beyond our reach, and so, it's difficult to get a clear understanding of what it is.
The second report from Hawaii, that was a little different, it was explained by an expert there are something called contrail. Give me an idea what a contrail is and also give me your opinion on if, if this looks like a contrail to you?
Right, the photograph that I saw, the video that I saw was a little bit difficult to see because it was on just a little square piece on my computer screen. But, uh, basically, a contrail is the exhaust from an aircraft that creates oxygen or, excuse me, water in the atmosphere and freezes and creates this trail and then after a while dissipating it through heating or wind dispersion. Uh, so, it's a distinct possibility. The one thing that the witness said though was in fact that he saw this thing move and change direction which a contrail doesn't usually do. However, if there was two jets going in two different directions and the contrail evaporate and one of them became apparent on the other, it could explain that.
I mentioned at the beginning the Bill Hick's joke about the destinations of the supposed visitors. Obviously, he did that for a laugh. But it does a kind of seriousness in there wouldn't intelligent beings have come here from light years away, know enough about us already to visit the, like the capitals?
Well, I tell you, uh, we've found that the incidence of, of cases where not only just sightings, but people supposedly be in contact, are pretty amazing. And through various types of analysis, we've been able to determine that whether or not these people are coming from other planet, intra, intra-dimensional, maybe time travelers, who knows?
Now, well, at least they chosed Hawaii. Lester Velez, the California state chair, the Mutual UFO Network. Great, thanks your time, good night, sir.
