Very against the war. So I would not want to be in military now.

Yes, I would. I, in fact I did it once upon a time.
OK. And you are dropped out or?
Well, I didn't join. I just talked to a recruiter².

I actually had it in the past, for various reasons I didn't.
Would you ever consider joining the US military?
No.
I wouldn't but I think it's a fine occupation to have. I think that it's really important for all and cross-sections of our society to be involved in this endeavor³.
I would not be worse like cut out for a basic training. I thought that maybe if I could go straight to the officer call, and not have to take orders.
Probably not.
Why not?
I really have no desire to and I 'm not a big fan of violence.
Absolutely.
Yeah? Why is that?
Because I'll protect our country.
Probably, I'm really nervous, but yeah, definitely.
As a woman and as a woman of color, I think that I'll be subject to a lot of racism⁴ and prejudice.
I mean that at some points of life. You know it's the right thing to just go out and support your country, all of a sudden, whatever we need to do. It's an honorable thing to be a member of military.
My parents would never ever let me do that even if I wanted to. I don't think..
Why wouldn't they let you yet?
I don't know. They are just really proud of my education. And I guess they see, you know, the military is an option for people who haven't succeeded in that fields.
