Laura Chavez's 10-year-old grandson told police he was playing Monopoly one night with his grandma and her boyfriend. He says his grandma got mad because she thought her boyfriend was cheating at the game. The next thing he knows, police are at their apartment and grandma is being taken straight to jail, the real one, for stabbing her boyfriend.
"Oh, oh my god, in front of her grandchild?"
The boy told officials when they were done playing, he was sent to bed and never saw any physical fighting.
"Thank God, OK, people are so over the top."
Inside the court room, Laura Chavez's twin brother stared at the monitor with a long face as charges were read against her. He says the couple had a history of fighting and police say both were very drunk when they showed up.
"That's something that I don't think any child should have to witness or be part of. It's all pretty bewildering to us,"
The boyfriend Smith told deputies Chavez hit him over the head with a bottle and then stabbed him with a butcher knife in the neck, head, and worse injuries are to his hand. Officials say he is in stable condition and will be OK. It's not something you should stab somebody over, especially if the poor little 10-year-old guy was there."
