(单词翻译:双击或拖选)
US and South Korea artillery1 troops are conducting a joint2 live-fire drill on Tuesday. They are testing readiness against a potential North Korea artillery attack on the South. One US artillery battalion3 and two South Korea artillery units are taking part. The exercise involves the use of the multiple launch rocket system or MLRS, which provides counterfire and suppression of enemy air defenses, like material and personnel targets at a range of 90 to 186 miles.
The purpose of this training is to ensure that both the United States army and the rocket forces are able to coordinate4 our abilities in a joint fire effort. By doing this type of training, it only reinforces the relationship between us and the rocket army.
Last week, North Korea made threats to strike South Korea medium headquarters which it accused of hearing insults of the North new leader Kim Jong-un. The two Koreas are still technically5 at war since the 1950-1953 Korean War ended with an armistice6 but no peace treaty.
