It's not often that a country defaults on its international debt even though it isn't even broke. But that's what's happened to Argentina in the past few hours. The story is that the majority of the institutions and people who lend money to Buenos Aires had agreed to be paid back a lot less than they originally gave it. But one group of creditors1, the so-called holdouts, were demanding that Argentina repay them the full amount they owed them.
