We begin then in France with the fightback by the former President Nicolas Sarkozy. He's been put under formal investigation¹ for corruption² and influence peddling³. On Tuesday, he spent 15 hours being questioned at police headquarters. And in Wednesday, in a primetime interview on French television, the centre-right former president said that the case against him was politically motivated.
