　　It was a very hot summer afternoon. The sun was shining brightly. A very tall and fat woman was walking along the street. She felt uneasy¹ because a schoolboy was following her closely². She began to walk faster, and the boy walk faster, too. At last the woman stopped. She turned round and looked at the boy.

　　夏天的一个炎热的下午，明亮的阳光普照大地。一个又高又胖的女人正沿着街道走着。她感到很别扭，因为一个小男孩正紧紧跟着她。她开始加快速度，可是男孩也加快了速度。最后，女人停下来，转过身去看着那个孩子。

　　"Tell me, sorry," she asked. "Why are you following me?"

　　“告诉我，小家伙，为什么总是跟着我？”她问道。

　　"Oh, sorry, madam," said the boy, "but it's a cooler walking in the shade behind you."

　　“哦，很抱歉，女士，”男孩说道，“因为在你身后的影子里走很凉快啊。”
