　　词汇表

　　Honolulu--it's got everything. Sand for the children, sun for the wife, sharks for the wife's mother.

　　火奴鲁鲁——那儿什么都有。孩子们可以在那儿玩儿沙子，妻子可以在那儿晒太阳，那儿还有鲨鱼，是为丈母娘准备的。

　　Husband-- a man who buys his football tickets four months in advance and waits until December 24 to do his Christmas shopping.

　　丈夫——提前4个月买球票可是要等到12月24日才去买圣诞礼物的那个人。

　　Archaeologist--the best husband a woman can have; the older she gets, the more interested he is in her.

　　提前；事先；

　　eg. The subject of the talk is announced a week in advance.

　　会谈的主题已提前一周宣布。

　　eg. To make sure that he was at home, I called him up in advance.

　　eg. British Summer Time is one hour in advance of Greenwich Mean Time.

　　英国的夏季时间比标准时间快一小时。

　　2. the more... the more...

　　句型，常表示越……就越……；

　　eg. The harder he worked, the more he got.

　　他工作越努力，得到的就越多。

　　eg. The longer the war lasts, the more the people there will suffer.

　　战争持续得越久,那里的人们受难就越多。

　　eg. The more, the better.

　　多多益善。

参考例句：

4 excessive   

adj.过多的，过分的，过度的

参考例句：

• The prices at this hotel are excessive.这家旅馆的价钱贵得过分。
