1. The federal government has given BP until the end of the weekend to find better ways to contain the oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico. Scientists estimate that between about 40 million gallons to 109 million gallons of oil have gushed into the gulf since the disaster started.

2. Hundreds of people are working at grounds and waters in Arkansas where at least 17 people were killed by flash floods. A number of people are still missing from the site. And crews are using kayaks, ATVs and horses in their search.

3. Clashes erupted between residents and government forces in Indian Kashmir’s main city Saturday. This comes a day after a teenage boy was allegedly killed after being struck by a rubber bullet fired by police.

4. The parents of teen sailor Abby Sunderland say she is healthy and was able to joke with her family in a phone call. She was rescued Saturday from her crippled sailboat adrift in the Indian Ocean
