1. Fire crews in California are working to stamp out the final smoldering ambers of a wildfire that had threatened thousands of homes. The blaze just north of Los Angeles is now mostly contained.

2. Officials in Pakistan say more than 800 people have been killed in monsoon flooding. Roads, bridges and communication networks have been greatly damaged, which is hindering rescue operations.

3. Russia is sending the army to battle deadly wildfires that are threatening dozens of towns and villages. The fires have destroyed 1,200 homes and are blamed for at least 28 deaths. Thousands of people have been evacuated.

4. If you look closely at this security footage, you'll see a horrifying sight. A three-year-old falls from a third storey balcony, hitting a stack of plastic pipes. Amazingly, the boy survived, and he's expected to be released from a hospital soon.
