1. It was a good night for Tea Party candidates in Delaware. Christine O'Donnell rode a surge of support from Tea Party activists to win the Republican Senate primary. She defeated nine-term Congressman Mike Castle. The winner in the general election will take over Vice President Joe Biden's former Senate seat.
2. American Sarah Shourd is resting in Oman's capital of Muscat on her first full day of freedom. She was released from custody in Iran yesterday after spending more than 13 months in custody. It's unclear how long Shourd will remain in Oman. Two other Americans who were detained with Shourd remain in a Tehran prison.
3. The tropics continue to heat up. Hurricane Julia has intensified into a major hurricane with winds near 135 miles per hour. Hurricane Igor continues to be the largest storm with 145 mile-an-hour winds. But it's tropical storm Karl who will impact land first. That storm is expected to cross over the Yucatan sometime today.
4. The woman best known for crashing a White House state dinner says in a new book she has multiple sclerosis. Michaele Salahi says it was a bout with MS that forced her and her husband to leave last year's state dinner. |
