[00:13.17]and to undergo chemotherapy treatment.
[00:15.87]He lost weight and felt so tired that
[00:17.89]he had to sleep more than twelve hours a day.
[00:20.96]But throughouthis battle with cancer,
[00:22.95]Armstrong was determinded
[00:24.05]not to let it beat him.
[00:26.07]After months of suffering,
[00:27.50]Armstrong recovered enough
[00:29.02]to start his next battle:
[00:30.61]to win the Tour de France.
[00:32.59]During periods when he did not
[00:33.89]have to have chemotherapy,
[00:35.76]he rode his bike 30 to 50 miles a day.
[00:38.61]By the summer of 1999,
[00:40.72]he did not need to take any more medication and
[00:43.40]according to his doctors,
[00:45.02]was 98% "home" in his battle against cancer.
[00:49.10]Many people doubted Armstrong's ability
[00:50.95]to become a top cyclist again
[00:53.38]but they need not have worried.
[00:55.15]In 1999 and 2000, he won the Tour de France,
[00:59.19]and then in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004.
[01:05.57]In 2005,he rode triumphantly up
[01:07.91]the Champs Elysees again!
