3. The Supreme Court has heard arguments on a massive sex discrimination suit targeting Wal-Mart. The suit on behalf of at least 500,000 women claims the retail giant favors men over women in pay and promotions. Wal-Mart denied the allegations.

4. It’s been a solemn day in Japan where the nation held mass burials for earthquake and tsunami victims. More than 11,000 bodies have been recovered, and the final death toll is expected to exceed 18,000.
