1. Emergency crews continue to sift through the wreckage of Joplin, Missouri after a tornado flattened part of the town. Dozens of people were killed, including at least four people at the city's hospital. About 2,000 buildings were damaged.
2. Tim Pawlenty has officially jumped into the 2012 presidential race. Pawlenty made the announcement today in Des Moines, Iowa. The former Minnesota governor accused President Barack Obama of (quote) "not telling the truth" about the country's fiscal situation.
3. President Obama was in Ireland. Today he visited the small town of Moneygall where his great-great-grandfather once worked as a shoemaker. Obama also had a taste of Guinness beer. He later delivered a speech to thousands in Dublin.
4. And the president will not be able to spend the night in Ireland due to the eruption of a volcano in Iceland. Winds are blowing a dense cloud of ash toward Scotland. Some flights are being impacted. |
