WASHINGTON, June 13 (Xinhua) -- French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde and Mexican central bank governor Agustin Carstens have been shortlisted for the selection of the new managing-director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the fund announced Monday night. Consistent with its decision adopted on May 20 specifying the selection procedures, and the fund's applicable by-laws, the IMF's executive board said it would consider the two candidates(候选人).
"The period for submitting nominations for the position of the next Managing Director closed on Friday, June 10," it said in a statement, suggesting no more candidates would be considered.
"The executive board will meet with the candidates in Washington D.C. and, thereafter, meet to discuss the strengths of the candidates and make a selection," said the statement.(本文由在线英语听力室整理编辑) |
