Hello, Kirsty Heenan with the National Weather. Taking a look at the satellite image first, the widespread cloud you can see across Western Australia in a trough is generating isolated showers and thunderstorms in the south. Low cloud over Tasmania in westerly winds is causing light showers in the west. And cloud in the northeast tropics is bringing showers north of Cairns. It'll be a wet day for most of Queensland, afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected over the state’s southeast and the far northwest. Showers over northern Cape York Peninsula are spreading south to Cairns. But despite the wet weather, there is a very high fire danger across much of the state. It should be a mostly fine day for New South Wales with some drizzle patches and light rain expected over the northern coast and ranges. A mostly fine and sunny day across Victoria, cool to mild in the south to becoming warmer in the north. Showers in Tasmania, but mainly in the west and south. Light showers over South Australia’s lower southeast coast should clear by the afternoon. Elsewhere in the state will stay mostly fine. Thunderstorms are expected over parts of Western Australia’s south coast. But further north, it should be fine and hot with showers forecast for the Top End. Now a look ahead to the major centers for tomorrow. It should be fine in Brisbane and Sydney, showers in Melbourne, Adelaide and Hobart, and partly cloudy in Perth, with the top of 27 degrees. |
