The Federal Government says talks with Dili about processing asylum seekers on East Timor are going well, despite the country's parliament rejecting the plan. Dili's parliament voted against the proposal for a processing centre, but only 34 of the country's 65 MPs were actually present for the vote. The Foreign Affairs Minister Steven Smith says the vote does not reflect the East Timorese government's position and productive discussions are continuing. Fiji is expected to expel Australia's Acting High Commissioner this morning. Sarah Roberts will be given 24 hours to leave the country. The report said flawed intelligence and inadequate planning were responsible for the fiasco which left nine Turkish activists dead. Israeli commandos raided the flotilla which was trying to break Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip. |
