Two people are dead and a woman is critically injured after a light plane crashed in western Victoria overnight. A 43-year-old woman has been flown to hospital in Melbourne, suffering from serious head, chest and abdominal injuries. A 69-year-old man, believed to be the pilot, and a 15-year-old girl died when the plane crashed in a paddock at Wallup, north of Horsham. The Federal Government's asylum seeker swap deal with Malaysia will dominate Parliament when it resumes today. The Greens, backed by the Opposition, will move to set up a Senate inquiry into the agreement. A High Court challenge to the deal will begin next Monday. More people will join the search today for the body of Queensland schoolboy Daniel Morcombe. More than 100 people have been scouring bushland on the Sunshine Coast. Daniel went missing while waiting for a bus almost eight years ago. A man appeared in a Brisbane court yesterday, charged with his murder. A series of bomb attacks have rocked over a dozen cities across Iraq, killing more than 60 people. The worst attack was in the southeastern city of Kut, where twin blasts killed at least 37 people. It was the worst day of violence in Iraq this year. And Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron has announced a review of the country's social policies in the wake of last week's riots. Welfare, schooling and health will all come under the spotlight. In what he called a "moral collapse", Mr Cameron declared war on gangs, and he pledged to help 120,000 of the country's most troubled families. |
