The key to a happymarriage and a happy life in retirement, according to recent study, one answeris sex. Researchers m a national data set called 2004 General Social Surveys. Theyanalyze the responses of 238 married seniors, 65 in older, about happiness in sex.They did not examine the response of none marriage seniors, a growing sexually activegroup. Some of the married individuals reported no sex at all in the previousyear. For those, only 40% were very happy with life in general, almost 60% werevery happy with their marriage. But for the seniors who in sex more than once amonth, the number jumped. 60% were very happy with life and 80% were very happyin their marriage. The researchers said the correlation held even when accountingfor other factors that might keep seniors smiling, such as good health and financialstability. The findings were presented at the gerontology Society of theAmerica annual meeting in Boston. The researchers say the information couldhelp showcase the need for sexual health intervention for elder Americans. So theycan stay active and active throughout golden years.
