The Northern Territory government says the sale of gas on the Inpex project brings the Territory's step closer to securing a major investment. Inpex is planning to build a multi-billion-dollar gas processing plant in Darwin, but a final investment decision has not been announced. The Japanese company says it's already sold all of the gas from the project and the acting chief minister, Delia Lawrie, says that is good news. Photography company Eastman Kodak has announced plans for a major restructure to speed up its transformation into a digital company. Now Kodak says the plans would involve a reshuffling of top positions designed to increase productivity and reduce cost. Eastman Kodak share prices jump more than 30 percent following this news. The company's still facing bankruptcy though.
Now let's have a look at how financial markets fared overnight. And the Dow, the American markets have just closed for the day. The Dow was up 69. The Nasdaq was up 25, close 26. Nearly 10 points higher the S&P 500. In London the FTSE also had a good performance.
Checking commodity prices, West Texas crude is trading at $102.10 a barrel. Tapis is trading at $119.59 a barrel. And gold has been marching higher overnight, $1630.54 an ounce. The Aussie dollar, too, has jumped. It's buying 103 US cents, 81 euro cents and 67 pence sterling. |
