An obsession can lead to tragedy or triumph2.In my case,  it led to a career as the author of two books,  credits in regional and national magazines,on tributor to a number of Writer's Guides,   a weekly column in the Los Angeles Times,   and an invitation to host a radio show about the publishing business at a National Public Radio station.

　　I had just launched3 my freelance4 writing career after working as a political reporter at a small suburban newspaper.

　　And naturally, my mission was to write and submit publishable articles. I thought of myself as  an  archer,    aiming the arrow with manuscriptss which would find their way (without wounding) into the hearts of magazine editors.

　　And then the obsession took hold6.   I was determined to be published in Los Angeles Magazine, figuring such a credit would really jump-start7 my career.  In addition,  I fantasized8 about becoming their television columnist,   which would catapult me into a very glamorous world.

　　妄想可以导致悲剧，但也可以带来成功。就我而言，它使我成为两本书的作者、数本《作家指南》的投稿者，还获得在地方和全国性刊物上发表作品的殊荣，并成为《洛杉矶时报》的周专栏作家，同时得到国家公共广播电台的邀请，主持一个有关出版业的广播节目。

　　我原本是一家无名小报的时事记者。此后，我开始了我的自由撰稿人生涯。我的任务自然是写作，然后把所写的文章送出去出版。我把自己当作一名射手，把手稿当作能够射人杂志编辑的心脏(不会造成伤害)的利箭。

　　然后，妄想就产生了。我一心要在《洛杉矶杂志》上发表文章，因为我认为这样的荣誉会使我的写作事业突飞猛进。此外，我还梦想成为他们的电视专栏作家，因为那将火速助我进入一个非常迷人的世界。
