Scotland-set fairytale "Brave" hits Chinese cinemas(在线收听

BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- "Brave," the latest Disney-Pixar animated feature film, will start screening in theaters on the Chinese mainland Tuesday, at the same time as North American cinemas.

The 3D fantasy adventure film, inspired by a folklore tradition from the Scottish Highlands, follows princess Merida, who embarks on a journey to reverse the curse on her family as a result of an evil spell unleashed by her rebellious act.
"Unlike 'Wall-E' and 'Up' which focus on romance, this film trumpets family love with the relationship between Merida and her mother being the essence of the story," said Gu Guoqing, executive chairman of Huaxia Film, the movie's mainland distributor.
The film shows precious and selfless family love through a happy and exciting magic story, Gu said.
Scottish veteran composer Patrick Doyle's made the music for "Brave," which also features a plethora of Scottish voice talents such as Kelly Macdonald, Julie Walters and Billy Connolly, with Emma Thompson dubbing for Queen Elinor, the mother of Merida.
