天气可以影响一个人的心情，心情也能被描述成天气。心情好的时候，惠风和畅，晴光万里；心情低落的时候，则是乌云密布，烟雾缭绕。分享你我的心情，你我的音乐，这里是听歌学英语，我是Canace.今天为大家带来的歌曲是"Listening for the weather" 。新西兰的女创作人Bic Runga，生于新西兰基督城 (Christchurch)，父亲为毛利人 (Maori)，母亲为中国人(原姓邓)，小时她受两个姐姐的影响，爱上写歌和玩奏乐器她的两张专辑的首曲 以吉他自弹自唱，将她最真的一面透过词曲流露出来。拥有中国人的血统，而能在乐坛大放异彩Bic和她的家庭，成为海外华人和音乐人的骄傲。

我们都有一些好朋友，但是有的朋友只能够有福同享，却不能有难同当，这样的朋友叫做fair-weather friends. 字面意思是“好天气中的朋友”，也就是指“可共安乐而不能共患难的朋友、酒肉朋友”。比如：
I'm a bit disappointed in John and David. It turned out they were only fair-weather friends.
我对约翰和大卫有点失望，原来他们不过是靠不住的酒肉朋友。
还有一类朋友可以与你同甘苦共患难，不管你富有还是贫穷，亨达还是落魄，他们都在你身边，这时候，我们可以说 rain or shine 不论晴雨，无论如何。

无论在何种情况下，乔伊都是一个可靠的朋友。
在处理事情的时候，有的人容易发脾气，但他也许只是小题大做了，a storm in a teacup ，一个茶碗自然是装不下风暴的，a storm in a teacup就表示“小题大做，大惊小怪”。

他发怒毫无道理， 只是小题大作。
下面我们再来说一个与storm有关的短语，叫做the lull before the storm。首先注意lull表示“间歇，暂停，暂时的平静”。The lull before the storm 则是“暴风雨之前的宁静”。
It's going to get very busy on Thursday. Today and tomorrow are just the lull before the storm.
我们周四会很忙的，今天和明天只是暴风雨来临之前暂时的宁静。
人多的地方，很多人都希望自己成为焦点，所以就制造言辞来抢别人的风头，这个“抢风头”，我们可以用Steal sb/'s thunder来表示。 Steal sb/'s thunder 抢某人的风头。
I kept quiet about my pregnancy because Cathy was getting married, and I didn't want to steal her thunder.
