BERLIN, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Titleholders Dortmund crushed Hannover 5-1 thanks to the hat trick by Mario Goetze whereas Wolfsburg came from behind to shock Leverkusen with the last minute goal by Bas Dost, at the last 16 encounter of the DFB Pokal (German Cup) on Wednesday.

Borussia Dortmund set the course to defend their DFB Pokal title as they wrapped up the round of the last eight with three goals within forty minutes to give Hannover no real chance of a comeback.
Immediately after kick off Dortmund seized the initiative to start a run on Hannover's goal.
Mario Goetze rewarded Dortmund's search of an early goal when he exploited a Kevin Grosskreutz assist at the second post with only three minutes played.
Hannover were unable to keep up the pace with Dortmund's fast paced attacks therefore a second blow was just a matter of time.
Robert Lewandowski squandered twice to extend the lead until Jakub Blaszczykowski slotted home his rebound at the 18th minute.
As the match progressed Hannover were able to put up some resistance yet Mario Goetze tripled the lead for the hosts to seal his brace with a free kick goal five minutes before the break.
After the break the titleholders retracted with the lead until Hannover's Mame Biram Diouf reduced their lead to 3-1 at the 79th minute.
Dortmund remained unimpressed and restored their three goal lead when Goetze volleyed home, following the build up play by Lewandowksi, to secure his first hat rick of his career five minutes later.
The hosts showed no mercy as Lewandowski added the fifth goal with 90 minutes on the clock.
Wolfsburg came from behind to eliminate Leverkusen from DFB Pokal following a 2-1 victory.
Both sides staged a slow start. Nonetheless Leverkusen broke the deadlock with 31 minutes into the match as Wolfsburg's Fagner Conserva Lemos deflected a cross by Sebastian Boenisch into his own net.
After the break Wolfsburg increased their efforts to overcome deep defending Leverkusen.
Ultimately at the 78th minute Wolfsburg levelled the score through Christian Traesch who hammered home from near the penalty area.
Both sides exchanged offensive actions but yet it was a blackout by Leverkusen defender Oemer Toprak who passed into path of Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost who had only Bernd Leno to beat for the late 2-1 winner.
Elsewhere, Stuttgart secured their last eight ticket when they overcame second division side Cologne and second division side Bochum defeated competitor 1860 Munich 3-0.
The quarterfinal is scheduled on February 27th, 2013: Bayern Munich encounter Borussia Dortmund, Stuttgart face Bochum, Mainz see Freiburg and Kickers Offenbach host Wolfsburg.
