英闻天下——443 China-related IP Address Attacks S. Korean Bank(在线收听) |
South Korea's communications watchdog says malicious code from a Chinese Internet address caused network paralysis at Nonghyup Bank. The Korea Communications Commission has found that the Chinese IP address accessed the management server for vaccine software distribution at the lender, generating malicious code.
Nonghyup was among six banks and media companies hit by an apparent cyber attack on Wednesday, which caused a massive network shutdown that affected 32-thousand computers in South Korea.
However, it is not known who was behind the attack due to the easy manipulation of internet addresses.
In Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei says hacking attacks are a global problem.
"We have said many times that hacker attacks are a global problem, which are anonymous and cross-border. Hackers often use the IP addresses of other countries to carry out their attacks. China has always believed that the international community faces a common challenge to deal with hacking attacks and maintain the security of the internet. Maintaining internet security is also in the interests of all countries."
South Korea's Defence Ministry has said North Korea could still be the likely perpetrator. |
