The White House said the two leaders reaffirmed the "historic" relationship between their countries over a phone talk and discussed deepening bilateral cooperation, especially on regional security issues of mutual concern.

　　"The president invited King Mohammed to Washington and said he looked forward to continuing their conversation in person," the White House said in a statement.

　　Washington sees Morocco as a "strong partner" in its counterterrorism efforts.
