2. The New York City fire department says a crane collapsed in the Borough of Queens, injuring several people. Some of whom have been hospitalized. The equipment is described as a mobile crane unit.

 

3. The Washington National Cathedral will soon begin hosting same-sex marriages. Cathedral officials say the church will be among the first Episcopal congregations to implement a new rite of marriage for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender members. 

 

4. Scientists and broadcasters say they have captured video images of a giant squid in its natural habitat for the first time. That nine-foot sea animal was filmed from an underwater research vehicle in the Pacific last summer.
