1. A possible immigration reform deal will be announced by a bipartisan group of leading senators today. It covers border security, guest workers and employer verification, as well as a path to citizenship for the 11 million illegal immigrants already in the US.

 

2. Rows of polished caskets are lined up in a gym in Santa Maria, Brazil as the city prepares for the funerals of 233 people killed in a nightclub fire, apparently sparked by pyrotechnics used by a band. Many of the victims were under 20.

 

3. A fifth straight day of street violence in Egypt. Police have fired tear gas at rock-throwing protesters near Cairo's Tahrir Square. This comes a day after Egypt's president declared a state of emergency in three provinces.

 

4. Road tests - General Motors says it puts new cars and trucks through their paces at its proving grounds in Milford, Michigan to beat the heck out of a vehicle before the customer can. The testing facility has been up and running since 1924.
