CCTV9英语新闻：China lowers threshold for environmental pollution crimes（在线收听）

　　China is getting tougher on pollution by lowering the criteria to define related crimes.

　　he Supreme People’s Court and Supreme People’s Procuratorate have issued interpretations of what constitutes such crimes. A pollution case will be defined as a crime if it poisons more than 30 persons, slightly injures more than three, and severely injures more than one.

　　A case will be deemed the most severe if involves more than one death, when previously it was three. The interpretation also sets standards for punishment, including for the mishandling of radioactive, infectious, and poisonous wastes.
