Russia Approves Bill Banning Adoptions by Same-sex Couples(在线收听) |
A bill that bans foreign same sex couples to adopt Russian children has passed the final reading in Moscow and residents there seem to uphold the decision.
"In my opinion, it is not normal, immoral from the moral side even. Well, if it is just women, I can understand, but if it is two men caring for a girl, I don't support it."
"Negatively. If it concerns the question of the single-sex couples officially getting married, I don't support it. In my opinion it would drop Europe into an abyss of sodomy."
A massive increase in allowances to foreign foster families has also been included in the bill.
Meanwhile, the bill simplified the procedures, allowing adoptions to come into force in 10 days from the previous 30 days.
The bill also includes amendment that bans the adoptions by unmarried individuals from countries where same sex marriage is legal.
Russia does not allow same sex marriage and some parliament members have voiced an initiative to detect de-facto same sex couples and prevent them from raising children if they had adopted any.
Anatoly Lokot with the Russian Communist Party is one of such holding that view.
"We do not understand how it is possible nowadays to support single-sex marriages and legalise them, and moreover, to give away our Russian children for such an upbringing. Frankly, the development of humanity towards that direction is an absolute dead end."
This move, however, has not yet been formally drafted as a legislative initiative.
France which has legalized same sex marriage recently ranked fourth regarding number of adopted Russian children.
Top three destinations are the US, Italy and Spain. |
