Joining us now in the studio is Wang Tao, a resident scholar of the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for global policy. He is responsible for the centre's energy and climate program.

Q1: China plans to cut carbon emissions relative to GDP by 40 to 45 percent by 2020 compared with 2005 levels. According to its current course, do you think China will be able to meet those ambitious targets?

Q2: The government is moving towards a low carbon development path, by changing its industrial structure and adopting greener technology. But how come there haven’t been noticeable improvements in the environment?
