 Federal parliament faces a packed agenda when it resumes today. There is just four more sitting weeks left before the election. The government has a number of budget bills to get through, including the winding back of the baby bonus.There is also legislation to increase spending on age care.

 
One of the men accused of murdering a British soldier on a London street has been arrested in Kenya three years ago. Michael Adebo-Lajo was suspected to have links to the Somali military group Al-Shabab and was deported back to Britain. Back in London, the familiy of the murdered soldier have made an emotional visit to the street where he died.
 
Australia's most senior Catholic Cardinal Geroge Pell will today give evidence at the Victorian parliamentary inquiry into child sex abuse. Cardinal Pell was archbishop of Melbourne between 1996 and 2001. Now the committee will conclude its public hearings this week. It's dued to report its findings before October.
 
A former nurse goes on trial today, accused of murdering 11 patients after afire at a Sydney nursing home. Roger Dean stands accused of deliberately starting the blaze thatdestroyed the Quakers Hill nursing home in November, 2011. Some residents died during the fire, while others died later from their injuries. The trial is expected to last four weeks.
 
And trainer Gal Waterhouse will be back before the more joyous inquiry today.She's been charged with not telling stewards about the mare's condition and failing to keep records of its treatment. Mr Waterhouse has pleaded not guilty.
